Josh Inglis is joining the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) for the second half of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 season. The Australian wicketkeeper-batter will be available for their match against the Mumbai Indians (MI) on May 4. He has been away due to personal reasons, as he got married on April 18 and will take some time before heading to India.
Even though he missed several matches, Inglis is a significant addition to the team. Last season, while playing for Punjab Kings (PBKS), he scored 278 runs at an impressive strike rate of 162.57. After being released before the 2026 auction, LSG signed him for INR 8.6 crore, showing their confidence in his abilities. If he is ready by May 4, he may play in the last six league matches, depending on the team’s needs.
Currently, LSG’s International players include Mitchell Marsh, Aiden Markram, and Nicholas Pooran, but they have not regularly used a fourth overseas player. South African all-rounder George Linde has played in two of their last three matches as a spin option. However, Pooran has had a tough time recently, scoring only 51 runs in six innings at a strike rate of 80, which has raised questions about his spot in the lineup.
Additionally, fast bowler Anrich Nortje left the LSG squad last week under uncertain circumstances. He played just one match this season against Delhi Capitals (DC) on April 1, where he did not take any wickets and gave away 39 runs in four overs.
Currently, LSG is in eighth place on the points table, with only two wins from six matches. Their victories were against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). They will next play against Rajasthan Royals (RR) at Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow on April 22, a crucial match as they aim to turn their season around.
