Indian batter Jemimah Rodrigues is confident in her team’s abilities ahead of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup, set to occur in England in June. India will enter the tournament after winning their first Women’s World Cup in 2025, where Rodrigues made significant contributions.
“Everyone in the team is ready to face challenges together. If someone struggles, it’s up to the rest to uplift them, and our team does this effectively. We will keep that spirit. We showed this during the World Cup, so I believe we will perform well (in the T20 World Cup),” Rodrigues stated at a BCCI media event.
BCCI Joint Secretary Devajit Saikia revealed the 15-member squad for the tournament alongside captain Harmanpreet Kaur on May 2. The 24-year-old fast bowler Nandni Sharma has been included in the squad after an impressive season in the 2026 WPL, where she took home the Emerging Player award for taking 17 wickets in 10 matches.
India’s journey in the tournament will begin against Pakistan on June 14. They are grouped with Australia, Bangladesh, the Netherlands, and South Africa. The team will prepare for the tournament with a T20I series against England, starting May 28. They will also participate in a one-off Test at Lord’s beginning July 10, just five days after the T20 World Cup final. The squad for this Test was announced along with the T20 World Cup team.
