Cricket South Africa announces ODI and T20I squads for England tour; Kagiso Rabada included but recovering, Marco Jansen returns, Kwena Maphaka added as cover.

Cricket South Africa (CSA)’s men’s selection panel has named the South African squads for next month’s white-ball tour of England, comprising three ODIs and as many T20Is to be played across England and Wales from September 2-14. The One-Dayers will kick off the tour on September 2 at Headingley in Leeds.
The squads pose a slightly different look to the ones that are currently in Australia for a similar white-ball tour. In ODIs, most of the squad remains the same, while Keshav Maharaj and Kwena Maphaka have been included, and Prenelan Subrayen has been left out.
For the T20I squad, there are more changes. Coming in are Donovan Ferreira, Marco Jansen, David Miller, Maharaj, and Lizaad Williams, while Nandre Burger, George Linde, Nqaba Peter, Prenelan Subrayen, and Rassie van der Dussen drop out.
While ace pacer Kagiso Rabada has been included in both squads, he’s not certain to start as he continues to recover from an ankle injury.
“We’ll reassess Kagiso in England,” head coach Shukri Conrad said. “We are hopeful he will be available for part of the ODI series, but we’re prioritising T20 cricket and will take a conservative approach.”
Jansen is fit again after suffering a thumb injury and has been included for the T20s, which would be great news for the Proteas. South Africa is seeing young Kwena Maphaka as cover for Rabada in both formats.
“It’s great to have Marco back,” Conrad said. “He’s a fantastic all-format player who balances our side, he bowls up front and at the death, and hits the ball a long way.”
South Africa last toured the UK in 2022, where they drew the ODI series 1-1 and won the T20I series 2-1.
