Vedanta chairman Anil Agarwal has pushed for the establishment of an IPL franchise in Bihar. He believes the state should have its own Cricket team, akin to other prominent Indian cities that already host successful franchises in the league. Agarwal expressed on social media that Bihar has produced many skilled cricketers and deserves this opportunity, similar to teams like Chennai Super Kings, Mumbai Indians, and Kolkata Knight Riders.

He noted Bihar’s increasing impact on Indian cricket, citing players like Ishan Kishan, who hails from Patna. Agarwal also mentioned Vaibhav Sooryavanshi from Samastipur, who holds the record as one of the youngest IPL debutants, and praised fast bowler Sakib Hussain from Gopalganj for his standout performances that have garnered attention in the cricket world.

“Ishan Kishan, born in Patna, scored the fastest ODI double century in terms of balls faced. Vaibhav Suryavanshi from Samastipur became the youngest player to make an IPL debut. And today, the eyes of the entire world are on the brilliant bowling of Saqib Hussain, born into an ordinary family in Gopalganj,” Agarwal stated on X.

“It has always been my dream to ensure that the youth of Bihar have opportunities to excel in all fields, and that our players receive world-class support and infrastructure right here in Bihar. I’m confident that with the right inspiration and facilities, a team from Bihar can become the best in the world,” he added.
