Fatima Sana, captain of the Pakistan team, emphasized that her squad will treat every match in the Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 with equal importance. In this prestigious tournament, set to take place in England and Wales from June 12 to July 5, India and Pakistan find themselves in the same group.
While many are eager to see the matchup between these two rivals, Sana noted the significance of all games for her team. She looks forward to performing well against India, who are coming off their first Women’s ODI World Cup victory last year.
“We are very prepared, and in a World Cup, every match matters; T20 Cricket can shift quickly. We’re focusing on all our matches, not just one,” Fatima stated during a media session at a training camp in Lahore.
“As everyone knows, matches between India and Pakistan are special. We hope to play well,” she added.
This year, Pakistan has shown strong performance, recently completing a clean sweep against Zimbabwe in a three-match T20I series. They are set to travel to Dublin later this month for a tri-series that includes Ireland and the West Indies. In the series against Zimbabwe, Fatima excelled, setting a record for the fastest fifty in Women’s T20Is, achieving it in just 15 balls, surpassing the prior record shared by Richa Ghosh, Sophie Devine, and Phoebe Litchfield. She also took five wickets throughout the series.
Following this series, Pakistan will start their Women’s T20 World Cup journey. They are in Group A alongside Australia, Bangladesh, the Netherlands, South Africa, and India.
