Mitchell Marsh will miss Australia’s upcoming three-match ODI series in Pakistan due to an ankle injury. He was expected to captain the team in Pat Cummins’ absence, and now his injury adds to the challenges faced by an already weakened Australian squad.
Marsh did not play in the Lucknow Super Giants’ final match against Rajasthan Royals on May 19. He returned to Australia the following day and was set to serve as captain during the tour, with the rest of the squad arriving in Pakistan this weekend.
Known as ‘The Bison’ among his teammates, Marsh’s availability for the Bangladesh tour starting June 17 is also uncertain. A decision regarding his participation will be made based on an assessment of his injury. Wicketkeeper Josh Inglis is likely to lead Australia in Marsh’s absence.
