The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) has announced the return of star batter Danni Wyatt-Hodge for the upcoming three-match T20I series against India, leading up to the 2026 Women’s T20 World Cup. The series starts on Thursday, May 28, and includes in-form Maia Bouchier in the squad.
Wyatt-Hodge has been away this summer due to the birth of her daughter. She managed to play a few matches for Surrey in the One Day Cup before taking a break to spend time with her family. At 35 years old, her return to the national team for the last two matches of the series is critical, as she aims to gain competitive experience ahead of the major tournament.
“Danni Wyatt-Hodge will join the England Women squad for the three-match Vitality IT20 series with India and will be available for the final two matches. Consequently, Charis Pavely has returned to Warwickshire. Maia Bouchier has been added to the squad for the India series, while Lauren Filer has been released to play for Durham against Surrey on Wednesday before rejoining the squad for the rest of the India series,” an official ECB statement said.
With Wyatt-Hodge’s return, England has released Charis Pavely, who will head back to Warwickshire for the T20 Blast competition. Pavely, 21, did not add to her two T20I caps earned in 2024.
Bouchier is also stepping in for the T20I series against India. Although she has not made it to England’s Women’s T20 World Cup squad, the 27-year-old played three T20 matches against New Zealand and serves as a solid backup for the team, especially if Nat Sciver-Brunt remains sidelined due to injury.
