India Women head coach Amol Muzumdar spoke about the team’s narrow four-run loss to England Women in the ODI World Cup 2025. He expressed disappointment, noting that the team felt they had the match under control before it slipped away at key moments.
Muzumdar pointed out that the loss had an emotional impact on the squad but highlighted the need for honest self-assessment and open discussions in the dressing room to learn from their experience and prepare for future matches.
“I was disappointed with the loss against England. We were very close, and at one point it felt like the match was completely in our control. Losing like that hurts, and I think it affected us negatively. I remember sitting in the dugout saying that we put in a genuine effort. So, let’s have an honest talk about this,” Muzumdar shared on JioStar.
In the match, England Women managed to win by four runs at Holkar Cricket Stadium in Indore. After winning the toss, England chose to bat, scoring a total of 288/8 in 50 overs. Amy Jones made 56 runs, while captain Heather Knight impressed with a remarkable 109 off 91 balls, including 15 fours and one six. Deepti Sharma stood out for India with bowling figures of 4/51, and Shree Charani took two wickets.
