Former Australian fast bowler Shaun Tait has resigned from his position as Bangladesh’s fast-bowling coach, effective immediately. He cited the need to spend more time with his growing family. This ends his contract with the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) after one year.

Tait emphasized that this decision does not mark the end of his involvement with Bangladesh cricket. He hopes to return in some form, either with the national team or in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL).

“My year with the BCB and the Bangladesh team was rewarding,” Tait told ESPNcricinfo. “I want to thank the BCB. I truly enjoyed working with the players and built great relationships, especially with the fast-bowling group.”

“I believe this isn’t the end of my time in the country. There’s always the BPL and other opportunities. For now, my young family needs more of my attention. A full-time role with year-round cricket was enough for me, and it’s time to step back and spend more time with them.”

Tait joined the Bangladesh senior team in May last year, taking over from Andre Adams. His contract was expected to last until November 2027, so his early resignation prompts the BCB to reevaluate its coaching plan for fast bowlers.

During Tait’s time, Bangladesh enjoyed significant success, defeating Pakistan twice in Test series, both at home and away. With players like Nahid Rana, Taskin Ahmed, Mustafizur Rahman, and Shoriful Islam performing well, Bangladesh’s pace attack is stronger than ever, and Tait deserves credit for this development.
