India’s young batting talent Vaibhav Sooryavanshi has received his first call-up to the national team for the upcoming tour of Ireland and England. He is also included in the squad for the 2026 Asian Games. India will play two T20 matches in Ireland at the end of June, followed by five T20Is and three ODIs against England in July.

Sooryavanshi, at just 15 years old, has the opportunity to become the youngest Indian to play International Cricket. If he features in the matches, he will break the record set by Sachin Tendulkar, who made his debut at 16 years and 205 days against Pakistan in 1989.

Sooryavanshi is coming off a remarkable Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 season, where he became the youngest player to win the Orange Cap as the leading run-scorer. He scored 776 runs in 16 innings, averaging 48.50, with a striking strike rate of 237.30, including one century and five fifties.

He also broke the previous record of 59 sixes in a season, set by Chris Gayle, by hitting an impressive 72 sixes.

In his brief T20 career, he has already made a name for himself, amassing 1,477 runs from 34 innings at an average of 44.75 and a strike rate of 220.44, which includes four hundreds and six fifties.

Earlier this year, he played a significant role in India’s Under-19 World Cup victory, scoring 175 runs off 80 balls in the final against England, earning him the Player of the Match award in the team’s 100-run win. He was also the second-highest run-scorer of the tournament with 439 runs from seven innings, winning the Player of the Tournament award.
