Bangladesh has announced its squad for the upcoming three-match T20I series against Australia, with Taskin Ahmed and Nahid Rana returning to the team. Both players were rested during the last T20I series against New Zealand in April. To accommodate them, seamer Ripon Mondol and seam-bowling all-rounder Mohammad Saifuddin have been dropped.
Rana has played only one T20I, which was against the UAE in May 2025. Taskin last played in the shortest format against Zimbabwe in October 2025. Additionally, pacer Abdul Gaffar Saqlain, who was included in the squad against New Zealand but did not get a chance to play, has kept his place in the squad.
Meanwhile, selectors also revealed the squad for the one-off Test against Zimbabwe starting on June 28. Towhid Hridoy has been called up as the selectors made four changes from the T20I squad for Australia.
Hridoy has played 52 ODIs and 59 T20Is since his International debut in 2023, but he has not yet played Test Cricket, despite having 16 First Class matches to his credit. Chief selector Habibul Bashar expressed his support for Hridoy, noting that he will add more aggression to the batting lineup.
Robiul Haque among new names in Test team
Mehidy Hasan Miraz, Shoriful Islam, Taskin, and Rana have all been rested from the Test squad as part of the team’s rotation strategy. Robiul Haque is a notable new addition, recognized for his prowess as a fast-bowling all-rounder.
In 32 first-class matches, Robiul has taken 107 wickets and scored 620 runs. Right-arm seamer Khaled Ahmed is also making a return to the Test team.
Bangladesh will face Australia in three T20Is on June 17, 19, and 21 in Chattogram. The Test squad will depart for Harare on June 23, with the match starting on June 28.
