Durham has announced a 15-member squad for their upcoming County Championship match against Northamptonshire at the Riverside. England Test captain Ben Stokes is set to return to county Cricket. This match could mark Stokes’ third appearance for Durham this season and his first at Chester-le-Street since 2024.
Stokes last played at home for Durham against Worcestershire last season, where he showcased his talent by scoring a half-century and taking three wickets. Head coach Ryan Campbell has kept the same squad for the match against Northamptonshire, who are currently second in the Division Two standings.
Durham is looking to keep their unbeaten run in the County Championship. They have secured four wins and earned 126 points from their first seven matches. Batter David Bedingham has been particularly impressive, accumulating 677 runs, placing him as the second-highest scorer in Division Two. Seamer Ben Raine is tied for the most wickets taken with 36, alongside James Anderson.
“Winning in three days against Derbyshire is remarkable and shows the growth of this team as we aim for Division One. The effort with the bat, especially in tricky conditions after losing the toss, was commendable. Every partnership mattered,” Campbell said, as reported by Durham cricket.
“Our bowling was equally exceptional, putting constant pressure from both ends. We are in a good spot but have a tough match ahead against Northants. To Northants, I’d say they’re coming into our territory,” he added.
