The first semifinal of the Duleep Trophy 2025 will be played between South Zone and North Zone from September 4 to 7 at BCCI Centre of Excellence Ground in Bengaluru.

The battle for the Duleep Trophy will intensify with the start of the semi-finals stage on Thursday, September 4, as South Zone takes on the North Zone for a place in the tournament final at the BCCI Centre of Excellence Ground in Bengaluru. Mohammed Azharuddeen-led South Zone team was given a direct semifinal seeding by the BCCI and will be up against a North Zone side that crushed East Zone in the quarterfinals match played under the captaincy of Ankit Kumar last week.
For both teams, the challenge will be to retain their optimum playing standards in the absence of multiple prominent international stars who were selected for the zonal first-class competition.
While South Zone will be missing their initially appointed skipper, Tilak Varma, because of India duties at the Asia Cup 2025, North Zone also won’t have the pace duo of Arshdeep Singh and Harshit Rana that helped them get an edge over the inexperienced East Zone.
The winner of the South Zone vs North Zone match will face the winner of the second semifinal match between West Zone and Central Zone in the final next week.
