Kuldeep Yadav, playing in his first T20I in over a year, dazzled UAE batters to finish with outstanding bowling figures in a Men’s Asia Cup match.

In a statement performance, India crushed UAE by nine wickets chasing down 58 runs in mere 4.3 overs in a Group A Asia Cup clash held at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. Abhishek Sharma scored a blazing 16-ball 30 with two fours and three sixes to set a facile win while his opening partner and India vice-captain Shubman Gill made an unbeaten 20 off 9. Captain Suryakumar Yadav remained unbeaten on 7 off 2.
While the batters completed the formality in 27 deliveries while chasing a paltry total, it was the bowlers who set the base for the win with a lethal show. Leading the effort was comeback man Kuldeep Yadav who, playing in his first T20I since the final of the 2024 T20 World Cup, produced a dazzling show to finish with excellent bowling figures of 4/7 from just 2.1 overs.
Kuldeep, who warmed the benches during India’s England tour earlier this year, took out his frustration on hapless UAE bowlers who seemed clueless against his guile. He started the demolition job in the eighth over, his second of the innings, when he removed Rahul Chopra on 2. He then got rid of captain Muhammad Waseem (19) and then Harshit Kaushik (2) in the next six deliveries to end UAE’s misery.
Kuldeep’s 4/7 are the second-best bowling figures in the history of Asia Cup Men’s T20I. The record for the best figures is also held by an Indian in Bhuvneshwar Kumar who recorded 5/4 against Afghanistan in 2022 at the same venue.
