Suryakumar Yadav was a happy man after India’s dominant nine-wicket victory over hosts United Arab Emirates in their opening match of the Asia Cup.
The India skipper, at the post-match presentation, lauded his team for their all-round show, saying, “Clinical performance from the boys, we wanted good attitude and energy on the field and that’s what we got.”
When asked the reason to win the toss and bowl first was to finish the match quickly, SKY said: “Wanted to see how the wicket was playing. It was the same in the 2nd innings. Recently lot of the boys were here for the Champions Trophy, the wicket looked good but it was on the slower side and the spinners have a role.”
Kuldeep Yadav delivered impressive figures of 4/7, propelling defending champions to a dominant win at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Wednesday.
Kuldeep’s left-arm wrist spin devastated the UAE batting lineup, claiming three wickets in a single over. India, who chose to field first in the T20 match in Dubai, dismissed UAE for a mere 57 runs in 13.1 overs.
Praising his bowlers and the left-arm spinner, Suryakumar said: “Here it is very hot right now and Kuldeep did well, got good support from Hardik, Dube and Bumrah.”
India swiftly chased down the target in 4.3 overs. Left-handed opener Abhishek Sharma scored 30 off 16 balls, while vice-captain Shubman Gill remained unbeaten on 20.
“He is currently the World number one batter for a reason, he sets the tone, irrespective of if we chase 200 or 50, unbelievable from him,” the Team India captain said about Abhishek.
“Everyone is excited for the game against Pakistan,” Suryakumar added with respect to India’s next match in the Asia Cup.

How India Beat UAE In Asia Cup?
The bowlers laid the foundation for the reigning T20 World Cup champions’ win. Medium-pacer Shivam Dube took three wickets before Kuldeep wrapped up the innings.
UAE opener Alishan Sharafu began aggressively, hitting boundaries before falling to pace bowler Jasprit Bumrah for 22 off 17 balls. Skipper Muhammad Waseem was the only other batsman to reach double figures, scoring 19 in an otherwise disappointing team performance.
Kuldeep’s three wickets in his second over, including that of Waseem, rattled the UAE batting, leading to their quick collapse.
In response, Sharma attacked left-arm spinner Haider Ali, hitting a six and a four. He continued his assault with two more sixes before being caught off pace bowler Junaid Siddique.
Gill completed the chase with a boundary, with skipper Suryakumar Yadav, unbeaten on seven, watching from the other end.
