Morne Morkel praised India bowlers for their Asia Cup win over UAE in Dubai, with Kuldeep Yadav taking 4 wickets and India chasing 58 runs in just 27 balls.

India men’s cricket team bowling coach Morne Morkel praised his bowlers for their remarkable performance against the UAE in their Asia Cup opener on Wednesday, noting that their focused preparation before the match paid off.

India showcased their dominance, effortlessly defeating the UAE in a nine-wicket victory on their home ground, while chasing a mere 58 runs during their Asia Cup campaign opener in Dubai.

In a video posted by BCCI on social media, Morkel said, “Yeah, a very solid start by the boys with the ball tonight. We haven’t played a lot of wide-ball cricket for a while, so I thought that leading into the game, our preparation was very focused. I think that is one thing that we did exceptionally well.”

Kuldeep Yadav’s four-wicket haul (4/7) and Shivam Dube’s impressive spell (3/7) restricted the UAE to just 57 runs in 13.1 overs, with only openers Alishan Sharafu (22) and skipper Muhammed Waseem (19) reaching double figures.

Morkel revealed that his pre-match discussion with the players focused on finding their rhythm, bringing high energy, and projecting strong body language.

“I think that is our conversation going into the game, was to find our feet, put a lot of energy, bring a bit of body language, when we have the ball in our hands, and yeah, we nailed the first half,” he concluded.

He moved past Axar Patel and Ashwin’s tally of 72 wickets each, now boasting 73 scalps in 41 matches at an average of 13.39. In the ninth over, he showcased his masterclass and etched his name in history.
