Pakistan Cricket Board requests ICC to replace match referee Andy Pycroft with Richie Richardson amidst ongoing ‘no handshake’ debate with India.
The Pakistan Cricket Board has been relentless in their efforts to come out on the victorious side of the debate regarding the ‘no handshake’ stance from their arch-rivals India, with a report in PTI claiming that the board has sent another letter to the ICC demanding that match referee Andy Pycroft be replaced with Richie Richardson.
According to the report, late on Tuesday evening, the PCB sent another mail to the International Cricket Council reiterating the demand to remove Pycroft from all its matches, but as of now, it has not been obliged by the world body.
Pycroft is all set to officiate Pakistan’s must-win clash against hosts UAE later this evening. The controversy started after Indian cricketers led by captain Suryakumar Yadav refused to shake hands with the Pakistan side at the end of their game on Sunday, September 14.
Pakistan captain Salman Ali Agha skipped the post-match presentation ceremony in protest. Pakistan Cricket Board blamed Pycroft for the fiasco, saying that he asked the former not to shake hands with Suryakumar and didn’t permit the exchange of team sheets between the two captains as is the norm.
