Indian captain Suryakumar Yadav forgot the changes in the team’s playing 11 for the 2025 Asia Cup clash against Oman, and was seen hilariously scouting the field to remember the right names. A video of the moment has rapidly gone viral on social media, drawing hundreds of reactions from the fans.

India made two changes. Harshit Rana and Arshdeep Singh replaced Varun Chakaravarthy and Jasprit Bumrah.  But Suryakumar remembered only Harshit coming in, spacing out on the other three names when questioned by broadcaster and former India coach, Ravi Shastri.

Even looking around at his practicing squad didn’t help, and Suryakumar even made the situation funnier by saying that he had become like Rohit Sharma, his predecessor, famous for his forgetfulness. Watch it here:

Suryakumar won the toss and opted to bat first against Oman.

“We are looking to bat first,” he said at the toss before discussing the team changes. “We have not batted first in this competition and we want to know our depth. Having game time is important going into the Super 4s. We want to continue the good habits we are doing in the first two games and want to continue to do that. It is looking nice and our openers will assess it further,” he added.

Bumrah has been almost certainly rested, given India have already fixed their place in the Super Four and need the express quick fit for the next round. Spinner Chakaravarthy’s absence is likely related to the pitch conditions and getting Arshdeep, India’s highest wicket-taker in the format, a chance.

India played and beat Pakistan and the UAE with a spin-heavy combination, with just one specialist pacer in Bumrah. As Harshit can also bat a bit, it extends the team’s batting tail and should give the top-order more freedom to score freely.

India start the match as overwhelming favorites against an Oman side comprising a lot of semi-professionals and young players.
