Legendary English umpire Dickie Bird passed away aged 92 on Tuesday.
The Yorkshireman officiated in 66 Tests and 69 ODIs across a storied career as a match official. His final Test match was India’s Test at Lord’s in 1996, a match notable for marking the debuts of Rahul Dravid and Sourav Ganguly.
Prior to his career in umpiring, Bird appeared in 93 first-class matches for Yorkshire and Leicestershire. He scored 3314 runs, with a high score of 181 not out.
