The Indian selection committee will be picking a 15-man squad for a two-Test series against West Indies today. With the chairman of selectors Ajit Agarkar in UAE, the meeting will be held virtually with Test captain Shubman Gill in attendance. There won’t be many changes from the Test squad that toured England earlier this year. However, the likes of Rishabh Pant, Shreyas Iyer are set to miss. Pant is still recovering from the toe injury be picked while batting in Manchester while Iyer has reportedly taken a break from red-ball cricket.

India Test captain Shubman Gill is also in Asia Cup as part of the T20I squad and he’s likely to attend the meeting as well. Gill made his Test captaincy debut earlier this year in England where he oversaw a 2-2 draw while scoring over 700 runs across the five Tests. (AP Photo)

It appears that fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah is likely to be picked with reports claiming he has informed the BCCI of his availability for the West Indies series. Bumrah is currently also in the UAE for the Asia Cup 2025. (PTI Photo)

On the other hand, top-order batter Shreyas Iyer is out of contention after reportedly informing the team management that he’s taking a break from red-ball cricket. Iyer is said to be unsure his body can go through the rigours of firs-class cricket anymore. (PTI Photo)

Also missing in action will be star wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant who continues his recovery from a toe fracture. Pant had hurt his toe while batting during the 4th Test against England in Manchester. He had scored twin centuries in the series opener and followed with three half-centuries. (AP Photo)

Devdutt Padikkal’s chances of a Test comeback have improved after Karun Nair’s below par show in England where he managed 205 runs in eight innings. Padikkal recently scored 150 during the first unofficial Test between India A and Australia A in Lucknow. (PTI Photo)

With Rishabh Pant absent, Dhruv Jurel will be the first-choice wicketkeeper-batter for the West Indies Test series. He scored 140 in the first unofficial Test between India A and Australia A and is captaining the side in the 2nd contest with Shreyas Iyer pulling out. (PTI Photo)

Will Nitish Kumar Reddy make the cut? The allrounder suffered a knee injury during the England tour after average performances. He’s currently part of India A squad for their ongoing two-match Unofficial Test series with Australia A. (AP Photo)

Axar Patel is also in line for a Test comeback after not being picked for the England tour with India preferring Ravindra Jadeja and Washington Sundar as their two spin-bowling allrounders. Patel has a stellar record with the ball in India having taken 47 wickets in 12 Tests at an average of 18.65 including five five-wicket hauls. (PTI Photo)

With Dhruv Jurel becoming the first-choice wicketkeeper, Narayan Jagadeesan is likely to be drafted in as his backup. He’s also playing in the Unofficial Tests for India A. (PTI Photo)
