Sundar bowled 3.2 overs for Hampshire in the first innings and then came out to bat at No. 7 on Thursday.
Star Indian spin-bowling all-rounder Washington Sundar is playing for Hampshire in County Championship Division One these days, and in the Southampton-based team’s ongoing match against Surrey at The Rose Bowl Stadium, he picked up 3 wickets for 5 runs in 3.2 overs on Wednesday. After finishing as the joint-highest wicket-taker for the Ben Brown-led side in the first innings, Sundar came out to bat at No. 7 on Thursday and scored 56 runs.
He faced 110 balls during his stay at the crease and hammered 5 fours and 2 sixes. Sundar was the only Hampshire batter to cross the 50-run mark in the first innings, and his super show with the bat helped the hosts take a 101-run lead in the first innings.
Hampshire’s official X handle shared a video of Sundar making life difficult for Surrey batters on Thursday and taking three wickets.

The 25-year-old cricketer, who has played 13 Tests so far, was ignored for the 2025 edition of the Asia Cup, which is currently underway in the United Arab Emirates. He was, however, named in the 15-member squad picked for the two-match Test series against the West Indies on Thursday.
In his first match of the ongoing County Championship Division One for Hampshire, Sundar scored 23 and 46 runs in two innings and also picked up 1 wicket for 107 runs against Somerset in Taunton.
Out-of-favour India spinner Rahul Chahar is also playing in the Surrey-Hampshire match. He bowled 20.4 overs in the first innings for the Oval-based team and picked up 2 wickets for 67 runs. He opened his bowling account by dismissing James Fuller on the first ball of the 70th over and then picked up Sundar’s wicket on the fourth ball of the 80th over.
While Fuller was caught by James Taylor, Ollie Sykes completed Sundar’s catch.
