Pakistan missed an easy run-out against Bangladesh in the Asia Cup 2025 Super 4 clash, with Saif Hassan surviving narrowly at the non-strikers’ end.

Pakistan stumbled under pressure on Thursday night when they faced Bangladesh in a do-or-die Asia Cup 2025 clash. In a crucial Super 4 game, the men in green suffered a horrific batting collapse after being asked to bat first. Later, they made a mockery of themselves by losing out on an easy run-out opportunity.

Saim Ayub showcased agility, blocking Towhid Hridoy’s well-timed cut shot off Shaheen Afridi’s bowling towards backward point and throwing it rapidly towards the non-striker’s end. However, there was no one to grab the ball. In fact, the fielder fumbled the throw from mid-on, letting Saif Hassan, who had reached the batting end, survive.

Hassan’s survival didn’t aide Bangladesh much as Towhid Hridoy perished next ball while smashing Afridi. Hridoy was looking to flick but got a thick top-edge that went straight up in the air. Saim Ayub, again in focus, didn’t make any mistake in pouching it at backward point.

Bangladesh’s bowlers once again impressed in humid conditions as they restricted Pakistan to 135 for eight in a must-win Asia Cup Super 4s clash on Thursday. On a tacky surface where stroke-making was tough, the Bangladesh attack ensured Pakistan’s famed batting unit never settled.

Senior pacers Mustafizur Rahman (1/33) and Taskin Ahmed (3/28) combined with leg-spinner Rishad Hossain (2/18) to leave the opposition top order clueless. Pakistan slumped early, with Taskin dismissing opener Sahibzada Farhan (4) — his 100th T20I wicket — while Mahedi Hasan (2/28) removed Saim Ayub for his fourth duck. Fakhar Zaman (13), Hussain Talat (3), and Salman Ali Agha (19) departed cheaply as the score crawled under 50.

Mohammad Haris (31 off 23) fought back, while Shaheen Shah Afridi (19) and Mohammad Nawaz (25 off 15) added vital runs, striking timely sixes. Despite sloppy Bangladesh fielding that gifted reprieves, Pakistan only managed a modest total.
