Manoj Tiwary stated that Riyan Parag did not fulfill his potential in the Rajasthan Royals’ four-wicket loss to the Kolkata Knight Riders at Eden Gardens on Sunday, April 19.

Parag was out for 12 runs from 14 balls after attempting to hit a delivery from Varun Chakaravarthy but missed and hit the stumps. This dismissal was the fourth for the Royals and occurred in the 15th over.

Tiwary expressed that Parag's shot choice was lacking, particularly when the team needed a strong partnership.

"I was a bit disappointed with Riyan Parag's shot selection; he couldn't read it well. The Royals needed a partnership, and he must feel let down. With his talent, he should have played better," Manoj Tiwary said on Cricbuzz.

When the ball turns, these two become lethal: Manoj Tiwary on Sunil Narine and Varun Chakaravarthy

Varun Chakaravarthy and Sunil Narine took advantage of the conditions, securing three and two wickets, respectively. The Royals managed a total of 155/9 after deciding to bat first.

Tiwary pointed out that the dry pitch favored the spinners during the afternoon match. He indicated that Narine and Chakaravarthy are especially effective when the surface supports spin.

"It was impressive to see KKR bowl this way. I suspected the spinners would play a key role, and they did. The pitch helped them, being dry in the afternoon, allowing the ball to spin effectively," Tiwary added.

KKR successfully chased down the target with four wickets in hand and two balls remaining, marking their first victory of the season. Rinku Singh (53*) and Anukul Roy (29*) combined for a crucial 76-run partnership off 37 balls to lead their team to victory.
