A critical moment occurred during the IPL 2026 match at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Virat Kohli was in the spotlight as he questioned the fourth umpire after a contentious catch by Jason Holder dismissed Rajat Patidar, the skipper of Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB).

This situation arose in the eighth over when RCB aimed to solidify their innings. Patidar, who was on 19 runs, tried to play a pull shot. Holder dived to take a low catch while Kagiso Rabada also approached the ball, almost causing a collision.

Replays did not provide clear evidence on whether the ball had touched the ground. Nevertheless, after a review, the third umpire upheld the catch, resulting in Patidar being out. This decision left Kohli and the RCB team frustrated as it came at a pivotal moment.

Kohli, who initially scored 28 runs off 13 balls, was later seen talking with the fourth umpire. His demeanor indicated he was looking for more information about the decision, especially because the video replays were not definitive.

Even as RCB struggled, Padikkal played well, managing to keep the momentum by rotating the strike and hitting boundaries. However, his resistance was halted when Rashid Khan bowled a stunning delivery to dismiss him. Padikkal scored 40 runs off 24 balls, including five fours and two sixes. Ultimately, RCB was bowled out for 155 runs in 19.2 overs, with Arshad Khan taking three wickets.
