Australia has maintained a strong position in both the ICC Men’s Test Team Rankings and the ICC Women’s ODI Team Rankings after the annual updates released on Friday.
The new rankings consider all matches since May 2025 at 100% and the previous two years at 50%. Australia holds a 12-point lead over South Africa in the Men’s Test Rankings and is ahead by 35 points of England in the Women’s ODIs.
In the Men’s Test Rankings, Australia and South Africa kept their top spots, both gaining three rating points to reach 131 and 119 points, respectively. England dropped to fourth place with 102 points, falling behind India, which has 104 points, due to a loss of seven rating points. New Zealand trails England by just one point in fifth place.
England’s drop is mainly due to losing home series against New Zealand and South Africa, as well as a 3-0 series win in Pakistan, which are no longer considered as those matches ended on 30 April 2023.
Additionally, Pakistan (89) has moved ahead of Sri Lanka (86) into sixth place, owing to the exclusion of their 3-0 home series defeat to England and the reduced impact of their 2-0 loss to Bangladesh in 2024.
Ireland has dropped out of the rankings as they haven’t played the required eight matches in the rating period. Both Ireland and Afghanistan must play two more Tests in the next year to be ranked again.
In the Women’s ODI Rankings, the top six positions remain unchanged. Australia’s lead has decreased by four rating points, putting them at 163. England has increased their lead over India from one to four points, sitting at 128. India (124), South Africa (100), New Zealand (93), and Sri Lanka (89) also retain their positions.
Sri Lanka gained six points after the update, closing the gap with New Zealand from 13 to four. Meanwhile, Bangladesh has surpassed Pakistan to claim seventh place.
Thailand and the Netherlands have temporarily exited the rankings as they haven’t played the necessary eight ODIs in the last three years. Thailand needs to play one more ODI, and the Netherlands two more, to regain their standings.
The updated ICC Men’s and Women’s T20I Team Rankings will be announced on May 5, while the Men’s ODI Team Rankings are set for May 7.
