Pakistan’s head coach, Wahab Riaz, is asking for patience as his team adjusts to his coaching style during the Women’s T20 World Cup. The former fast bowler has been in charge for a few months and is already influencing the team’s approach to the game.
In their match against India, there were promising signs of maturity, but the team struggled to maintain control and lost their opener in the tournament.
Wahab remains hopeful, noting that if the team keeps a positive attitude and plays the style of Cricket he aims to promote, they can expect better results as the tournament progresses.
“We took over about four months ago. Changing how this Pakistan cricket team plays takes time. The key is to adapt to International strategies, like scoring more runs during the Powerplay and aiming for at least 170 runs to be competitive,” Wahab was quoted as saying by ICC.
“The message is clear: we need to play positively and fearlessly. In this short time, drastic changes won’t happen. However, the players are putting in great effort, and we’re seeing some positive signs in various games and series. We do need to finish our matches better, but I believe we’ll improve on that,” he added.
