India wicketkeeper-batter Sanju Samson has compared MS Dhoni to tennis icon Roger Federer and Virat Kohli to rising star Carlos Alcaraz.

In a promotion for Wimbledon 2026, Samson noted that both Dhoni and Federer display a smooth style in their sports. He likened the intensity and energy of Kohli to that of Alcaraz. Federer has won Wimbledon a record eight times, while Alcaraz has claimed the title twice but will miss the 2026 tournament due to a wrist injury.

“If there is a Roger Federer in Cricket, it’s MS Dhoni. He is calm and composed, making his game look effortless yet powerful. Carlos Alcaraz is very explosive, similar to how Virat Bhai plays. Virat Kohli shares Alcaraz’s aggression and energy,” Samson stated in an interview with JioStar.

Samson recently joined the Chennai Super Kings for the 2026 IPL season, where he played alongside the legendary Dhoni. Before the IPL, he had an outstanding T20 World Cup, earning the Player of the Tournament award with 321 runs in five matches, an average of 80.25, and a strike rate of 199.37, contributing to India’s title win.

In the last three matches of the tournament, he played a crucial role, scoring an unbeaten 97 against the West Indies and making 89 in both the semifinals and finals, helping India score over 250 runs against England and New Zealand.

During his first season with the Super Kings, Samson emerged as the team’s top scorer, amassing 477 runs in 14 matches, with an average of 43.36 and a strike rate of 165.62. He hit two centuries against the Delhi Capitals and the Mumbai Indians. He is set to play for India in a three-match T20I series against Ireland and England, starting in early July.
