After a tough two years with Lucknow Super Giants, Rishabh Pant is back with Delhi Capitals, the team he played for over eight seasons since his IPL debut in 2016 before being released ahead of 2025.

Pant had difficulty finding form at LSG, captaining the team in 28 matches and securing only 10 wins against 18 losses. His win rate was 35.71%, while his loss rate stood at 64.29%.

His batting performance also declined. In 26 innings for LSG, Pant scored 581 runs at an average of 26.40 and a strike rate of 135.74, which is below his usual level.

As he prepares for his return to DC in IPL 2027, Pant is in a position to achieve three significant milestones.

1. Most fifty-plus scores for DC

David Warner holds the record for the most fifty-plus scores for Delhi Capitals with 24. Pant currently has 19 and needs six more to break Warner’s record. Other notable players include Virender Sehwag and Shikhar Dhawan.

Player Matches Innings Runs Strike Rate 100s 50s 50+ scores
David Warner 91 90 2572 135.36 2 22 24
Rishabh Pant 111 110 3284 148.93 1 18 19
Shikhar Dhawan 63 63 2066 131.00 2 16 18
Virender Sehwag 86 85 2382 158.37 1 17 18
Shreyas Iyer 87 87 2375 123.95 0 16 16

2. Wicketkeeping milestone

Pant has made 95 dismissals as a wicketkeeper for DC, totaling 72 catches and 23 stumpings. If he takes over wicketkeeping from KL Rahul, he could reach 100 dismissals, marking a major milestone for the 28-year-old.

3. Most matches as captain for Delhi Capitals

Pant has captained DC in 43 matches, winning 24 and losing 19, giving him a win rate of 55.81% and a loss rate of 44.19%. The record for most matches as captain is held by Virender Sehwag, who led the team in 52 matches, winning 28 and losing 24. If Pant resumes his captaincy, he could surpass Sehwag in both matches and victories.
