Bumrah is the first Indian bowler to take at least 50 Test wickets in three different countries.
Jasprit Bumrah entered his name in the history books on Thursday (October 2) by becoming the first Indian bowler to take at least 50 Test wickets in three countries. Bumrah has picked up 64 wickets in 12 Tests played so far in Australia and has 51 Test wickets to his name in 12 matches played so far in England. In India, he has dismissed 50 batters in 13 Tests.
Kapil Dev and Ishant Sharma have picked up more than 50 wickets in two countries.
Bumrah completed his 50 Test wickets in India during the second session of the first day’s play of the first India-West Indies Test in Ahmedabad. He finished with figures of 3/42 in 14 overs on Thursday.
Bumrah opened his wicket account on Thursday by removing John Campbell. Campbell was caught behind by Dhruv Jurel on the first ball of the seventh over for 8 runs from 19 balls.
In the second session, Bumrah first clean bowled Justin Greaves (32 runs from 48 balls) and then breached Johann Layne’s defence to shatter his stumps on the first ball of the 41st over.
