The ICC T20 World Cup 2026 will begin on February 7. India and Sri Lanka are co-hosting the tournament. Group C includes West Indies, England, Scotland, Italy, and Nepal.

The first match of Group C features West Indies against Scotland at Eden Gardens in Kolkata on February 7.

England and West Indies are considered the favorites to advance from this group.

Two teams from this five-member group will move on to the Super 8 stage. The Super 8 will have two groups, with the top two from there reaching the semi-finals.

The 2026 ICC T20 World Cup is the 10th edition of the tournament, which started in 2007. India is the defending champion, having won the title in 2024.

Scotland

Scotland is participating in their 7th T20 World Cup. They debuted in 2007 but were eliminated in the group stage. They again exited in the group stage in 2009 and then consistently reached the next editions. In 2016, they were eliminated from the group stage, but in 2021, they advanced to the Super 12. They were knocked out in 2022 and 2024.

Scotland did not initially qualify for the 2026 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup but gained entry after Bangladesh withdrew due to a disagreement with the ICC over relocating their matches to Sri Lanka.

In their T20 World Cup history, Scotland has played 22 matches, winning 7 and losing 13, with 2 matches having no result.

The Italy national Cricket team, also known as Gli Azzurri, is an Associate Member of the ICC. The team joined the ICC in 1984 and became an Associate member in 1995.

Italy will make its T20 World Cup debut in 2026 after qualifying as runners-up in the 2025 Europe Regional Final. This is a significant achievement for cricket in Italy.

Nepal secured their place in the 2026 ICC T20 World Cup by performing well in the International qualifying pathway, particularly in the 2025 Asia Regional Qualifier.
