Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s impressive innings helped India score 411 runs in the U19 World Cup final against England on February 6. The 14-year-old made 175 runs off 80 balls, hitting 15 fours and 15 sixes. His exit in the 26th over slowed India’s momentum. At that point, the team was at 251 and seemed poised to exceed 450 runs, but England bowlers took key wickets to control the late overs.

Aaron George struggled at the top of the order, scoring only 9 runs. Captain Ayush Mhatre contributed significantly with a half-century, scoring 53 runs off 51 balls, including 7 fours and 2 sixes, which allowed Suryavanshi to play aggressively.

Vedant Trivedi (32 off 36) and Vihaan Malhotra (30 off 36) also provided important runs. Wicket-keeper Abhigyan Kundu was notable as well, scoring 40 runs off 31 balls with 6 fours and 1 six.

Just when it seemed that India might fall short of 400 runs, Kanishk Chouhan stepped up, scoring an explosive 37 not out in 20 balls, hitting 3 fours and 1 six, which lifted the team’s total to 411 for 9 in 50 overs.

James Minto took three wickets, and Sebastian Morgan along with Alex Green picked up two wickets each.

In the tournament, Suryavanshi scored a total of 439 runs in 7 innings.
