Vaibhav Sooryavanshi is one of three players from India, the newly crowned ICC U19 Men’s Cricket World Cup champions, selected for the Team of the Tournament.

Sooryavanshi scored a remarkable 175 runs off 80 balls in the final against England and was named Player of the Tournament. He is joined by Kanishk Chouhan and Henil Patel in the 12-player squad.

Chouhan contributed consistently with both bat and ball, while Patel took 11 wickets, including a notable five for 16 against the USA.

England, the runners-up, also has three players in the team, with Thomas Rew appointed captain and wicketkeeper.

Rew scored 330 runs at an average of 66, featuring a vital century in the semi-final against Australia.

Manny Lumsden, the tournament’s leading wicket-taker with 16, and Ben Mayes, the top run-scorer with 444 runs, including 191 against Scotland, complete the English representation. Mayes narrowly missed breaking the record for the highest individual score at an ICC U19 Men’s Cricket World Cup, set shortly before by Sri Lanka’s Viran Chamuditha.

Chamuditha’s impressive 192 runs against Japan included 26 fours and a six.

Afghanistan’s Faisal Khan Shinozada and Nooristani Omarzai were also selected for their crucial roles in reaching the semi-finals.

Faisal recorded consecutive centuries against Ireland and India, while Nooristani took 14 wickets, with a best of five for nine against Tanzania.

Australia’s captain Oliver Peake scored two centuries, one against the West Indies and another in the semi-final against England. Pakistan’s Ali Raza and West Indies’ Vitel Lawes round out the selection.

Raza took 13 wickets with an average of 13.92, while Lawes captured 10 wickets in five matches.
