The Indian U19 team, led by Ayush Mhatre, received a warm welcome in Mumbai after winning the U19 World Cup 2026. India secured the title for the sixth time by defeating England in the final. Upon returning to Mumbai, the team was greeted with celebrations.
A large crowd gathered at the airport to see the young champions, cheering as they arrived. Media representatives were also there to capture the players’ reactions.
Captain Ayush Mhatre was presented with a bouquet while the team left under tight security alongside officials.

In the final, India U19 batted first and scored an impressive 411/9. Vaibhav Suryavanshi was the standout performer, scoring 175 runs from just 80 balls, with 15 fours and 15 sixes, achieving a strike rate of 218.75.
England U19 responded by getting all out for 311 in 40.2 overs. RS Ambrish was the leading bowler, taking three wickets, while Deepesh Devendran and Kanishk Chouhan took two wickets each.
Ayush Mhatre Receives Grand Reception In His Hometown
A roadshow was organized as Mhatre traveled through the streets in a car decorated with flowers and Indian flags. He was honored with a large garland, and fans eagerly took pictures and selfies to commemorate the moment.
With this title, Ayush Mhatre became the sixth Indian captain to lift the U19 World Cup, joining notable names like Mohammad Kaif, Virat Kohli, Unmukt Chand, Prithvi Shaw, and Yash Dhull.
In the final, Ayush Mhatre contributed 53 runs off 51 balls, hitting seven fours and two sixes. Throughout the tournament, he made a total of 214 runs in seven matches, averaging 30.57 with three half-centuries. India topped the Super Sixes with four wins and defeated Afghanistan U19 in the semifinal.
