Sunrisers Leeds, previously known as the Northern Superchargers, have appointed Zak Crawley as their captain for The Hundred Men’s 2026. The right-handed batter will lead the team, surpassing England’s white-ball captain Harry Brook.

Crawley joined the Headingley-based franchise for GBP 180,000, making him their fifth-highest signing in the auction. He was the top run-scorer for the team last year, amassing 280 runs at an average of 40 and a strike rate of 160. His impressive performance helped the Northern Superchargers reach the Eliminator, where they lost to the Trent Rockets in a rain-affected match.

Crawley, who was recently dropped from England’s Test squad, will now lead a team featuring several international players, including Mitchell Marsh, Abrar Ahmed, Dan Lawrence, Ryan Rickelton, Brydon Carse, and Matthew Potts.

This announcement completes the captaincy for Sunrisers Leeds ahead of The Hundred 2026. Along with Crawley, England Women’s all-rounder Dani Gibson will lead the Women’s team for the first time.

Crawley has prior experience in a captaincy role, having led England in a three-match ODI series against Ireland in 2023 after the Ashes, where the team won 1-0 in his only series as captain.

He is also familiar with the Sunrisers, having played for the Sunrisers Eastern Cape in South Africa’s SA20 league.

Sunrisers Leeds will kick off The Hundred 2026 with an away match against MI London (formerly known as Oval Invincibles) on July 21.
