India is considered the leading contender for the ICC T20 World Cup 2026. No team has ever won this trophy two times in a row, and even host nations have struggled to succeed in this tournament. Nonetheless, former players are optimistic about India’s chances, given their unbeaten streak since the 2024 T20 World Cup held in the USA and the West Indies.

Despite changes in leadership and coaching staff, India has won every bilateral series. Former opener Navot Singh Sidhu expresses confidence in the team, though he has some concerns.

“India is the favorite for the title, but I’d be surprised if they falter. They are dominant in this format and continue to win series. I believe India will lift the trophy,” he remarked.

The real tests for India will occur during the semi-finals and finals, where knockout matches can be unpredictable, and a single stellar performance can shift the game’s outcome.

In the ongoing 2026 T20 World Cup, India has already secured victories against the USA and Namibia. They are set to face Pakistan next on February 15 in Sri Lanka.

Both teams will be playing at neutral venues, as is customary in ICC events and the Asia Cup.
