When people think of Jammu and Kashmir, Cricket is not usually the first thing that comes to mind. The region is known for its stunning mountains, beautiful landscapes, and snow-covered peaks, as well as skiing. While sports are not new to the area, with alpine skiers like Aarif Khan even competing in the 2026 Milano Cortina Winter Olympics, cricket has only recently gained prominence. Now, the state is poised to play in its first-ever Ranji Trophy final.
Captain Paras Dogra is likely grateful to his fast bowler, Aquib Nabi, who took five wickets and then followed up with four more, significantly challenging Bengal’s score of 328 runs in their first innings, achieved at Bengal’s home ground in Haldia. On the final day, during the first session, Jammu and Kashmir secured their place in the final by winning the match by six wickets.
