Pakistan has removed Shaheen Shah Afridi from their lineup against Namibia after losing to India by 61 runs in the ICC T20 World Cup 2026. Afridi bowled only 2 overs, giving away 31 runs, contributing to Pakistan’s second consecutive loss. His performance in the tournament has been below expectations, and he has struggled to maintain his pace.
Given his challenges, particularly during key moments in the match, the management decided to drop him for the crucial game against Namibia.
“We are batting first since we know the conditions after two games here. Our performance against India was lacking, and the batsmen need to step up. We are making two changes: Salman Mirza and Khawaja Nafay will replace Shaheen Afridi and Abrar Ahmed,” said Salman Ali Agha.
Pakistan nearly faced a shock defeat against the Netherlands in their first match, but they managed to secure a victory. In the following game, they showcased their strength against the USA, who struggled to keep up. However, their momentum was disrupted by India, who controlled the match effectively.
