Pakistan’s head coach, Mike Hesson, stated that his relationship with captain Salman Agha remains strong. A video gained attention during the recent match against Namibia, showing Agha throwing a bottle in frustration. Hesson was seen speaking with Agha at that moment.

As Pakistan prepares to face New Zealand on Friday, Hesson was questioned about the viral video. He clarified that Agha’s anger was not directed at him.

Hesson explained that he approached the captain to ask Mohammad Nawaz to get ready, while Agha was still upset about his dismissal and threw the bottle in frustration. This sequence of events led to the misunderstanding. In a press conference, Hesson remarked,

“I received that video, and it was misinterpreted. I was talking to Salman about getting (Mohammad) Nawaz ready as a left-hander, and Agha was upset about getting out, so he threw the bottle.”

He continued,

“It had nothing to do with our conversation. Once the left-arm spinner finished, we discussed Shadab (Khan) getting ready to come in. It was a simple chat, and Agha was just disappointed about being out, which led to the misinterpretation.”

Pakistan secured a 102-run win over Namibia in their final group stage match, vital for qualifying for the Super 8 of the 2026 T20 World Cup. Agha, who scored 38 runs off 23 balls, returned to the dugout visibly upset.

While sitting next to former captain Babar Azam, Agha threw a bottle down in anger. Hesson, meanwhile, arrived and was gesturing toward Agha as he spoke.
