Jammu and Kashmir captain Paras Dogra has been penalized by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) for head-butting Karnataka player KV Aneesh during the Ranji Trophy final. Dogra’s action caught everyone off guard as he head-butted Aneesh, who was fielding close by. It’s unclear if Aneesh provoked Dogra in any way. Karnataka player Mayank Agarwal stepped in to separate the two.
Agarwal was visibly angry and confronted Dogra while umpires Rohan Pandit and Ulhas Gandhe intervened to defuse the situation.
Karnataka captain Devdutt Padikkal also spoke to the umpires about the incident. According to Cricbuzz, Dogra has been fined 50 percent of his match fee. The match referee, Narayanan Kutty, is expected to make an official statement after the game concludes. Although hitting another player can lead to stricter penalties, in this case, Dogra has avoided a suspension.
