Maheesh Theekshana had a standout performance in Sri Lanka’s Super 8 match against New Zealand. This game was crucial for both teams after they failed to earn full points in their previous match.
The crowd at R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo on Wednesday, February 25, witnessed impressive spin-bowling from the home team during the middle overs. Theekshana took three key wickets, dismissing Fin Allen, Rachin Ravindra, and Mark Chapman.
The wicket of Chapman was a highlight for Theekshana. He had just dismissed Rachin Ravindra, who was caught at backward point, two balls before taking Chapman’s wicket. The Sri Lankan spinner delivered a perfect off-break that pitched on leg-stump and turned sharply, hitting the top of the off-stump. The Kiwi batter was caught off-guard by the significant turn as the ball went past his forward defense.
