Kyle Jamieson and Will O’Rourke have been named in New Zealand’s Test squad for the upcoming series against Ireland and England, announced on May 6. New Zealand will first face Ireland in a one-off Test in May, followed by a three-match Test series against England in June.

This will be Jamieson’s first Test appearance in over two years, having been sidelined due to a back stress fracture he sustained in February 2024 during a match against South Africa. Since returning from injury in March 2025, he has participated only in white-ball Cricket.

O’Rourke also dealt with a back stress fracture since the Test series in Zimbabwe in July 2025 and spent eight months recovering. He recently returned to action during the white-ball series in Bangladesh, taking five wickets in three ODIs.

They will join a pace-heavy squad that includes Zak Foulkes, Matt Henry, Nathan Smith, Blair Tickner, Ben Sears, Michael Rae, and Kristian Clarke. Rae and the uncapped Kristian Clarke are included for the Ireland Test only, scheduled from May 27-31 at Civil Service Cricket Club in Belfast. This match is not part of the World Test Championship (WTC) cycle 2025-27.

Bracewell takes a break from Test cricket

Jacob Duffy, who made history in 2025 by taking 81 wickets across all formats—breaking Sir Richard Hadlee’s record—will not be joining the squad. Duffy is expecting his first child and will stay home with his family.

All-rounder Dean Foxcroft has received his first Test call-up following strong performances in New Zealand’s recent white-ball tour of Bangladesh. Meanwhile, Michael Bracewell has opted out of selection, choosing to focus on his young family and limited-overs cricket.

New Zealand Test squad: Tom Latham (capt), Tom Blundell (wk), Kristian Clarke (Ireland Test only), Devon Conway, Zak Foulkes, Dean Foxcroft, Matt Henry, Kyle Jamieson, Daryl Mitchell, Henry Nicholls, Will O’Rourke, Glenn Phillips, Michael Rae (Ireland Test only), Rachin Ravindra, Ben Sears (Ireland Test and travelling reserve for England Tests), Nathan Smith, Blair Tickner, Kane Williamson, Will Young (Ireland Test only)
