On May 6, the Netherlands announced its 15-member squad for the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026, set to take place in England and Wales. This will mark the Netherlands’ first participation in the women’s T20 tournament. They qualified by winning all three of their matches during the Super Six stage of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Global Qualifiers.
Babette de Leede will captain the team, which will also compete in a tri-series against Bangladesh and Scotland prior to the World Cup. The squad includes two new players from the team that participated in the Qualifiers held in January-February: wicketkeeper-batter Rosalie Lawrence and bowling allrounder Lara Leemhuis.
Alongside the Netherlands, three other teams qualified for the main event through the Qualifiers. Head coach Neil MacRae expresses confidence in the team’s ability to maintain their strong performance from recent tournaments.
“The Netherlands have selected a World Cup squad that combines youth and experience, and the team has performed well in the ICC World Cup Qualifying Tournaments and the ICC Emerging Nations Tournament over the past year. The players are eager to compete against top ICC nations,” Neil MacRae stated.
