Pat Cummins, a skilled fast bowler and respected captain, is recognized globally in the Cricket world. He has already clinched an ODI World Cup trophy and an Ashes series as captain, leaving little else for him to showcase as a leader.

Cummins has become a prominent figure in the Indian Premier League (IPL). His first IPL season was in 2014 when Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) bought him for INR 1 crore. He took two wickets in four matches during the 2014 and 2015 seasons before being released.

After missing the 2016 season, he was picked by Delhi Capitals (then Delhi Daredevils) for INR 4.50 crore in the 2017 auction. In that season, he played 12 matches and took 15 wickets at an average of 24.86 and an economy rate of 8.07.

Despite his strong performance, Delhi released him before the 2018 season. That year, Mumbai Indians (MI) acquired him for INR 5.40 crore, but he missed the entire season due to a back injury and was subsequently let go.

Cummins then caught KKR’s attention in the 2020 auction, where they invested in his potential by paying INR 15.50 crore. He continued with KKR until 2022 and was eventually released.

The 2024 auction saw Sunrisers Hyderabad sign him for INR 20.50 crore, marking a new phase in his IPL journey. He was later named captain and retained for INR 18 crore for the 2026 season.
