Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) batter Tim David has been fined 30% of his match fee and received two demerit points for violating Level 1 of the IPL’s Code of Conduct for Players and Team Officials. He breached Article 2.6, which concerns using gestures that are considered obscene, offensive, or insulting.

This incident occurred during Match 54 of IPL 2026 between RCB and Mumbai Indians at Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Stadium in Raipur. David acknowledged his wrongdoing and accepted the penalty from Match Referee Amit Sharma. The situation is delicate for David; if he earns another demerit point, he will face a one-match suspension.

Additionally, David is the second RCB member to face penalties for misconduct during this match. Earlier, RCB head coach Andy Flower was fined 15% of his match fee for breaching Article 2.3, which pertains to using audible obscenities during a match.
