Kuldeep Yadav is a top left-arm wrist spinner in world Cricket. At 31, he stands out as India’s main wicket-taker in white-ball formats. He has made a significant impact in the Indian Premier League (IPL) with his match-winning abilities.
Kuldeep’s IPL career started in 2014 when Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) signed him for INR 40 lakhs at the auction. However, he didn’t play for two years. His first real chance came in 2016, where he took six wickets in three matches with an economy rate of 8.33.
In 2017, KKR gave him a bigger role, and he responded by taking 12 wickets in 11 matches, maintaining an economy rate of 8.29. His earnings skyrocketed by 1350% when KKR offered him INR 5.80 crore.
The following year, he had another strong season, taking 17 wickets in 16 games at an economy of 8.14. However, his performance dropped in 2019 and 2020, managing only five wickets in 14 matches combined.
Before the IPL 2022 auction, he was released and signed by Delhi Capitals (DC) for INR 2 crore. In his first season with DC, Kuldeep took 21 wickets at an economy rate of 8.43. In 2023, he claimed 10 wickets in 14 matches but improved his economy rate to 7.36. He followed that with a solid 16-wicket season in 2024.
Recognizing his contributions, DC offered him INR 13.25 crore for IPL 2025, and the same amount for IPL 2026.
