The Women’s Caribbean Premier League (WCPL) is set to grow from three teams to four with the new addition of Jamaica Empress. They will join Trinbago Knight Riders (TKR), Barbados Royals (BR), and Guyana Amazon Warriors (GAW) in this season’s tournament. The fifth edition of the T20 franchise event will take place from September 5 to 17, hosted entirely in Barbados.
WCPL 2026 Format Explained
In the round-robin stage, each team will play against the other three teams once. The team that finishes at the top of the points table will secure a spot in the finals. The second finalist will be determined through a playoff match between the second and third-placed teams.
The Dominance of Barbados Royals
Barbados Royals have shown remarkable strength, winning the last three tournaments in 2023, 2024, and 2025. Trinbago Knight Riders were the champions of the inaugural tournament in 2022.
A WCPL press release indicated future plans for 2027, aiming to include teams from outside the Caribbean and establish the league as a worldwide competition.
