Fast bowler Harshit Rana has recovered from his hamstring injury and rejoined the Indian team ahead of the third ODI against Afghanistan. Rana suffered a torn hamstring during a warm-up match for the T20 World Cup 2026, which sidelined him for the tournament and the IPL with the Kolkata Knight Riders.
He completed his rehabilitation at the BCCI Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru, working closely with the Sports & Science and Medical teams to receive fitness clearance before returning to competitive Cricket. The BCCI confirmed his return through a press release on Friday.
With Rana back, he is expected to be included in the playing XI for the third ODI, likely replacing Prince Yadav. His inclusion could also serve as a substitute for the injured Hardik Pandya, as the BCCI had not announced a replacement, awaiting Rana’s return to the squad.
The final ODI of the series will take place at the historic M. A. Chidambaram Stadium in Chepauk, Chennai, on Saturday, June 20. The match is a formality for the Indian team, which already leads the series 2-0. However, with Rana back, India aims to assert their dominance and complete a series whitewash against Afghanistan.
