Nuwan Thushara, a right-arm seamer, is one of the 46 cricketers awarded central contracts by Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC), despite previous issues with the board over a no-objection certificate (NOC).
Thushara was retained by Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) for INR 1.60 crore ahead of IPL 2026, but SLC refused to issue him an NOC due to his failure to pass a fitness test. This situation led to controversy and prompted Thushara to file a lawsuit against the board in the Colombo District Court.
He later dropped the lawsuit when most of the IPL season was already concluded. His inclusion in the national contract list suggests a positive resolution with SLC and indicates that his contributions are still valued.
