Shreyas Iyer has been named as India’s new T20I captain after the squad announcements for upcoming series against Ireland and England, along with the Asian Games planned later this year.
Right after his appointment, Shreyas celebrated by leading his team, SoBo Mumbai Falcons, to victory over the Triumph Knights MNE, captained by Suryakumar Yadav, in the Mumbai T20 League on Saturday.
“It is an incredible feeling and an honor to represent the country at this level and lead the team,” Shreyas said after the match. “I am very pleased with today’s performance. I contributed important runs and helped the team win, making it even more special.”
He expressed gratitude to his supporters: “I deeply appreciate the fans and their consistent encouragement throughout the years. It means a lot to me, and I want to convey my love and respect for them,” he added.
