Dhruv Jurel scored his Test century during the opening match against West Indies in Ahmedabad. Replacing the injured Rishabh Pant, the 24-year-old wicketkeeper-batter reached his hundred off 190 balls. He became the 12th Indian wicketkeeper to score a Test ton and the sixth against the West Indies.
Indian wicketkeeper-batter Dhruv Jurel scored his maiden Test century on Friday in the ongoing first Test against the West Indies in Ahmedabad.

Replacing an injured Rishabh Pant in the line-up, Jurel reached his triple figures with a boundary off Roston Chase in the 116th over of India’s innings. He took 190 deliveries to reach his first hundred in Test cricket.

Jurel became the 12th Indian wicketkeeper to score a Test century. Five of them, Vijay Manjrekar, Farookh Engineer, Ajay Ratra, Wriddhiman Saha and now Jurel, scored their maiden hundred against the West Indies.

Jurel also became the third Indian wicketkeeper-batter to score a Test century against the West Indies in India. Farokh Engineer scored 109 in 1976 in Chennai, whereas MS Dhoni got 144 in 2011 in Kolkata.

The century by Jurel on Day 2 of the first Test helped him become the sixth Indian wicketkeeper-batter to score a Test century against the West Indies. The 24-year-old joins the likes of Vijay Manjrekar, Farookh Engineer, Ajay Ratra, Wriddhiman Saha and MS Dhoni to score a hundred against West Indies.
